Over time, the performance of every water softener will decline. The softener resin has a typical lifespan of 7-12 years in most applications. During this time, the ability of the resin to remove hardness and iron from the water gradually declines. This is partially because the brine rinse can not remove 100% of the hardness and iron from the resin during the rinse/backwash cycle. Particularly in the case of iron, which has a much stronger molecular bond with the water softener resin, the salt rinse just can not break these bonds. The result is excess iron that is trapped in the resin bed.

Simply add the entire 4# bottle of Water Softener Cleaner to your brine tank. With the next rinse/backwash cycle, this chemical will break the molecular bonds between the resin and the iron, rinsing away the trapped iron from the resin.

After treatment with our Water Softener Cleaner, your softener will be able to remove more hardness and iron from your water supply.
